Truth be-told, Dead Connection is not a game I had played, or even seen in an arcade growing up... however when I first had the opportunity to buy the arcade board, I researched the game and loved what I saw!
Just when everything had already been done, Dead Connection is a surprisingly fresh and fun take on the arena shooter genre, something that arcade goers saw plenty of in the 80s. Again, it uniquely has a gangster theme (another rarity in arcade games) which set itself apart from the crowds of games, taking heavy inspiration from movies like The Godfather and The Untouchables. In that sort of facial plagiarism that seemed to be all over games of the time, the bad guy even looks just like Marlon Brando. It’s an interesting theme, and not one that was explored all that often until more recent games like Mafia.
This is a serious must play for any arcade goer!
